Evaluation

Question One
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real   media products?

Question Two
How effect is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

In my advertisement, I chose to use a very memorable image taken from the music video. The picture was a central theme; the striking black and white effect is one I used in my music video. This picture is featured on the advertisement along with the artist’s name ‘Milly&Money’ typed over it. As it is a single artist I have decided to use her on the album cover and the advertisement to get as much publicity as possible. I looked at lots of other magazine’s and I took the idea of putting the CD cover on the advert to make it easy for my audience to recognise the CD in shops and the album cover next to the song on iTunes. On the advertisement I used the type and colour of font that would appeal to my target audience of the ‘young’, the colours were orange and blue. I made sure I put the website clearly on the magazine advertisement, so that magazine readers could go straight to my other products.

Question Three

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

From asking a range of people the feedback was pretty similar. I asked a professional cameraman his opinion of my video and he was very impressed and enjoyed the humorous side to it. The only disadvantages he said were that the lip-syncing wasn’t up to the highest standard at all times but this was due to not having the technology that is used by professional editors in music videos. If I were to do it again, I would use more time to edit the lip-syncing to perfect it as much as possible. The quirky use of mix-stop animation and a human form of the doll to tell the story of my music video, was seemed to be different and interesting to all ages of the audience. This level of creativity was enjoyed especially by the very young audience between ages of 7-12.
The audience aged between 13-20 found the video very fun and trendy, which proves I had the right target audience. I was surprised to see the older generation like my music video too, they really appreciated the story behind it and the comedic elements.
Overall it was a positive feedback, which was due to the depth of my research and the development I have achieved through out the year, by learning and improving my camera work and editing skills.

Question Four

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
See below my video which I would not have been able to do without using iTunes, Final Cut Express, Live Type, Word processing programmes and my mobile phone.
